Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are a vital part of advancing modern cancer care. Our practice is deeply committed to providing patients access to the most innovative and promising therapies through high-quality research programs.

Our Leadership in Clinical Research

Professor Adnan Khattak is recognised as one of Australia’s leading medical oncologists, with an extensive international profile in early-phase and late-phase clinical trials. He has played a major role in bringing world-class research to Australia, including:

  • The first personalised cancer vaccine trials conducted in Australia
  • The first TIL (Tumour-Infiltrating Lymphocyte)–based cell therapy trials in Australia for both melanoma and lung cancer

His leadership continues to shape access to newest therapies long before they become available in standard practice.

Our Research Partnerships

Our practice is actively involved in many clinical trials through strong collaborations with:

  • One Clinical Research (OCR)
  • Ramsay Clinical Trial Unit
  • Public Hospitals clinical trial units

Together, we participate in a broad range of early-phase (Phase I) and late-phase (Phase II–III) studies across multiple tumour types, ensuring patients have access to cutting-edge treatments that may not be available elsewhere.

Why Clinical Trials Matter for Patients

Clinical trials allow patients to benefit from the newest advances in oncology.

Access to Novel Treatments — Often at No Cost

International and national clinical trials often provide promising new treatments free of charge, including advanced immunotherapies, targeted therapies, cell therapies, and personalised cancer vaccines.

Better Monitoring and Comprehensive Care

Patients enrolled in trials receive closer monitoring, regular assessments, and support from a dedicated research team trained in trial-based care.

Contributing to Future Cancer Treatments

By participating in trials, patients help improve outcomes for others — shaping the next generation of cancer therapy worldwide.

Voluntary Participation

Joining a clinical trial is completely voluntary. Patients can withdraw at any time without affecting their standard treatment.

Want to Be Considered for a Clinical Trial?

If you believe a clinical trial may be suitable for you, please ask your general practitioner or treating oncologist to send us a referral. Our research team will review your medical information and contact you if a relevant study is available.
